What it is
ROP is a Chrome extension for desktop reading. Open a page, press play, and the main text is spoken in order — sentence by sentence — inside a small panel beside the page. Pause, rewind, or change the pace without leaving the text.
Why listening helps
Reading attention does not fail all at once. It slips: a sentence is scanned rather than read, the eye arrives at the bottom of the page before the meaning does. A voice moving at a deliberate pace gives the eye something concrete to follow, and the passage stays in working memory long enough to be understood.
For a reader with dyslexia, low vision, or a long day behind them, that difference is larger than a convenience.
What it deliberately is not
It is not a summariser, a chatbot, or a rewriting tool. It does not change the words on the page, and it does not build a library of what you have read. The product does one thing: it reads the text in front of you, in the order it was written.
Where it stands today
This site is a prototype. The reading panel you can see on the home page is an illustration, the plans are described but cannot be bought, and the extension has no store listing yet. The pages here are honest about that on purpose: they show the shape of the product without pretending the rest of it is live.
